Letter from Choose A Life You Love Founder, Becky Emet

Hello,

I’m glad you found Choose A Life You Love. I am a firm believer that no matter who you are, where you come from, or what the current circumstances of your life may be, you can choose a life you truly love. I’ve done it myself, and I’ve partnered with so many of my clients along their own journeys too.

What I’ve found is that in order to live lives we truly love, we need first to know and love the deepest parts of ourselves.

A life-long truth-seeker and an eternal optimist, in 2005 I chose the last name Emet, which means truth. This was no surprise to anyone since as a child I was known for my loving and empathic curiosity, my deep desire to really get to know people. Somehow I did not acquire the fear so many others have to ask the toughest questions, to face the deepest truths, about my own life, or about the lives of my friends, colleagues, clients, even strangers.

Fifteen years ago, a classmate said something that has stuck with me all this time. He said,

When you know someone, when you really know them, how can you not love them?

This is what fuels my passion for helping my clients get to know themselves more deeply, this faith that when we do truly get to know our selves, we will inevitably love the person we see.

So that is what I’ve found must come first. But that’s not the place to stop. We only get one life, one chance, one today. We can never know whether we will have tomorrow, whether we will have our loved ones, our health, our safety, our ability to truly feel happy and fulfilled at any other point beyond today.

So the choice is up to each of us! Are we going to choose to live lives we truly love today? And are we going to keep making that choice each and every day?

As I encourage and inspire my coaching clients to get to know and truly love their inner most selves, I bring with me a faith that not only is life unfolding exactly as it is meant to, but at the very same time, each one of us is able to create and attract lives which at one point only existed in our wildest dreams.

A big believer in the basic premise of Law of Attraction, that we invite into our lives the experiences to which we give the most energy, I have seen people change their lives entirely. Clients have gone from feeling burdened and scared to feeling empowered and free. I myself have gone from feeling stressed out or worried to feeling what I’ve always felt at my core: optimistic, faithful, filled with a profound joy and zest for life.

My approach is unique–different from other coaches’, and certainly different from other therapists and consultants. Having worked with hundreds of clients as a psychotherapist, life coach, executive coach, and as a strategy and management consultant, I have developed a unique approach to working with coaching clients, an approach that feels like “Becky,” an approach that allows me to truly love my life each and every day. Looking at life from many different angles, I help my clients bridge their hearts and minds, their personal and professional selves. Together we go deep to get to the heart of the matter on a personal level while also taking a structured and strategic look at what they want for their lives at home and at work.

My clients comment on my empathy and warmth, which have always been strong parts of my personality, but they also notice the strategic focus and structure I bring that reminds me of my consulting days. Each of you deserves gentleness, honesty, compassion. And you also deserve the partnership of someone who will work alongside you to make sure you 1) get to the bottom of things and understand root causes of obstacles you face, 2) develop solutions that will actually work for you over the long term, and 3) see yourself take action and follow through on the things that matter to you most.

When my work with each of my clients comes to an end, what I want most for each of them is for them to be able to look in the mirror and feel more love for the person they see than they ever have before. I want each client I work with to see the power they have to choose lives they truly love each and every day. And I want them to be able to quickly identify all the ways they are choosing to live lives they deserve. I love being there to celebrate with my clients and I tend to feel as emotional and as invested in each person’s journey as they do themselves. I’ve been known to tear up a time or two!

I received my MSW from Smith College School for Social Work, my MBA from Boston University, and my BA from Brandeis University.
